Music Video Camera Angles

Music videos normal include and switch between: Extreme Close Up (ECU) this is used to clearly show something specific, we would most likely use it to show hands playing an instrument, or on the mouth singing. Close Up (CU) this will be used to show the face as it shows singing, and if used in a narrative it helps set the mood and show emotion. Medium Shot (MS) is used to clearly show the body of the artist, and is useful for showing performance. Long Shot (LS) this allows the audience to see everything, and is useful to break up the Close Ups which may become boring for the audience. Low Angle (LA) these are used to show power and authority, this will be useful in certain parts of our video. High Angle (HA) this is used to show low authority and weakness, this will like Low Angles, be useful to use in certain parts of the video.

Practise shots

These are the practise shots we took of the hall and piano in which we will be using for our master shot

Prop list

We made a prop check-list to help organise us and to make sure when we went filming we did not forget anything, as this would hinder out filming greatly especially as we are working with a limited time in which we have to film the video

Storyboard

We created a storyboard which works in coalition with our timeline to give us a bigger understanding of how the music video is going to come together, and to help us organise what we need to film, and where we need to film it.

Shows the main character at the piano, an over the shoulder shot- close up emphasises the artists piano skills.

This scene brings in another main character, it shows a lady running out of a hall, it sets the scene, the running is in time with the beat of the music.

In this scene we are going to use a similar effect to Amy Whinehouse's video 'Rehab', as we are going blend the band into the background of scenes, here the band member is just in the back ground playing the guitar.

We are going to feature flashbacks in our video, this flashback coincides with the lyrics.

This scene features the woman again, she plays with the audiences mind as they don't really know why she is important.

This scene shows another random band member, this time there is a drummer performing in a field.

This scene shows the main character walking past a busker in the street, the busker plays in time with the music.

Woman bursts into the hall where the main character was playing the piano, tension created.

Final shot shows the woman confused as she looks for the main character, but fails to find him.

Video Timeline

We created a timeline to organise us and help us order the scenes that are going into our video. This will make it easier for us when we start to film as we will know what we need to film and where it is going to fit in in the video, it is quite vague but we can build on it with the use of a storyboard.

Lyrics

These images are of the annotated lyrics of our song, they are annotated with the ideas of scenes we are aiming have with the lyrics, this helps us get an idea of how the video is going to come together, and helps us the the timing of each scene in post production.
